Yellow Balloon Projects – Nicola’s Tri for Kids

Attention! Nicola’s Tri for Kids is happening on June 10th 2012. This is a cause that is very near and dear to some family members of TSSC as they lost their adorable 2 1/2 year old to complications from a bone marrow transplant a few years ago and this tri was established so that hopefully it doesn’t happen to others and to honor her all too short life.

It is a totally awesome event – the kids have a blast and can enter as individuals or teams.  They can wear life jackets for the swim and training wheels are a-ok for the ride.  Emily, Hannah, and Lauren from the Blue Team have all participated in this great event in the past.

For more information to take part in this great event you can head to the website here!

Hilton Invitational | Synch @ York U

Congratulations Toronto Synchro Club on a very successful weekend at the Hilton Invitational Meet hosted by Synchro Ontario!

In just 2 short weeks from when we left Regionals at York University we were back again taking to the pool with new changes and strong swims! Our resident 11-12 age group soloist Lauren G coached by Danielle took to the pool Friday afternoon to compete in Espoir, a 12 & U pilot project, and competed her solo routine and figures. Coming away with strong figure scores and encouraging feedback from judges on her improvements since Regionals, Lauren will be working to fine tuning her solo for Variety Village Invitational and Trilliums.

Starting things off first thing Saturday morning was our White Team coached by Laura and Val to compete their snake routine in the 16-20 age group category. The team took home with them a bronze medal for their swim and will be working towards strengthening their changes for their final swims at Variety Village and Age Groups in May.

Mid morning the pool became packed with the 13-15 age group category and our Green and Purple Teams took to compete. Swimming their gypsy routine the Green Team coached by Nicole and Julia had a significantly stronger swim than at Regionals. Rounding off the category the Purple Team coached by Emily and Danielle had a powerful swim. With positive feedback from judges on improvements for both teams in such a short period of time the teams will be working on fine tuning their routines for the final 2 competitions of the season in May.

Saturday late afternoon we had our youngest competitors in the 11-12 age group category take to York pool, the Gold and Blue Teams. Up first to swim (again!) was the amazing 4 person Gold Team coached by Kim. The girls swam their season’s routine with amazing presentation and big cheers. Followed shortly after was the Blue Team coached by Amanda. The girls had an amazing swim that had that feel good lasting impression. With grins from ear-to-ear the swim was so good that the team took home 5th place in their age group!

Finishing off Sunday our 13-15 duet pair of Emma and Haley swam their clown routine in a packed age group category. Topping their Regionals swim by a point the girls will be working on really making their routine sing for Variety Village, their final competition performance of their routine.

Congrats to all of our athletes on the successful completion of the Synchro Ontario Hilton Invitational!

Up next, the annual Variety Village Invitational on Sunday May 6th 2012.

Way To Go TSSC!

Congratulations athletes, parents & coaches on a great weekend at the Central/North Regionals hosted by the York Synchronized Swimming Club!

Hopefully by now the gell has all come out, you have caught up on some much need sleep, and you’re back to the swing of things! The weekend was jammed packed with great moments I’m sure we are all trying to wrap our heads around it still!

To our parents – seeing the TSSC blue of support crew shirts and hearing the big cheers and whistles up in the crowd was amazing! You have made the experience so fulfilling for all of our athletes and I can’t wait to see more of it!

To our athletes – congratulations on all of your individual and collective achievements! You have all come so far this season our coaches and I are so proud of you. We can’t wait to see this continue as we round off these last 10 weeks of the 11-12 season!

To our coaches – well done on your calm, cool perspective during the entire weekend. You have been invaluable in helping put TSSC back on the map in our region! Sitting in my beige shirt this weekend I heard lots of great feedback from coaches, judges and officials from other clubs. Kudos to you!

To take a look at all of the results that happened this weekend see the weekly newsletter!

Keep up the great momentum back into your practices. We head back to the York pool in just 3 weeks to compete at the Synchro Ontario Hilton Invitational.

Central/North Regionals | Go TSSC Go!

As we all take to the pool on Saturday & Sunday this weekend for the Central/ North Regional Qualifiers at the Tait McKenzie Centre at York University I just wanted to congratulate all of our coaches, parents and athletes on a very successful season so far at TSSC!

As we continue to grow as a club it is important to recognize that weekends like this are opportunities to celebrate all of our hard work. With only 11 weeks left in the 2011-2012 season now is the time to leave it all in the pool!

The coaches and I are looking forward to some stellar routine performances this weekend and personal bests in figures for all of our girls. Remember, how you present yourself is 100% within your control – the way you smile at the judges, how high your eggbeater is, how flat your splits are to name a few. Your ranking and mark is 100% out of your control.

Push yourself out of your comfort zone to be more than what’s expected. That is where truly exceptional athletes live everyday.

To our TSSC parents be sure to wear your blue and white shirts with pride, sit together and remind each other about the proper way to clap! Please review the meet package information sent around to remind yourself of your set schedule for this weekend.

Let’s Go!
