In the 2009-2010 and now 2010-2011 season we have had two athletes with disabilities compete in our
competitive program at Toronto Synchro. AWD in synchro is divided into both cognitive and physical disabilities and at Toronto we are currently instructing both.
Toronto Synchro is interested in expanding this program at our club to include more swimmers to both recreational and competitive levels. The program caters to each individual swimmers needs and abilities. The cost of the program is based on each swimmers amount of desired training and if it is specialized one-on-one attention vs. group training.
Recreational swimmers swim once a week developing basic swimming and synchro skill sets along with putting together a routine to exhibit at our watershows and competitions if desired. Competitive swimmers swim between 1-3 days a week and work on developing more advanced skills and a choreographed routine that they would compete at both competitions and exhibition watershows. More high-functioning swimmers can also train with our competitive teams as an alternate position in addition to competing in the AWD duet or solo category.
