Lisa A Wrap Up & Results

This past weekend TSSC celebrated many firsts when attending Lisa Alexander. The first competition of the 2011-2012 for our competitive program. Named after one of the first real celebrities of synchro in Canada, Lisa A was a great first step into the season!

For 9 of our athletes this was their first competition ever, some of which have never even tried synchro before September at all. All of our coaches were so proud of the confidence that all of our swimmers had when taking to the pool, the first step to success!

There’s that indescribable sense of accomplishment when a swimmer completes their first figure and swims off to their coach with a huge smile. When an athlete hears their first 6.0! When you can celebrate with your teammates and coaches getting through your first competitive event. Special shout outs to Michaela from our white team who took home the clubs first bronze medal in the 16-20 age group category, and Erin O’Neil who took home our first silver medal in level 2 AWD-P!

Lisa A is an event to come together with athletes from across Ontario and celebrate all of our hard work over these first few months of practicing. As an open event to all athletes in both the national and provincial level it’s important to focus on setting your first goals as an athlete. It’s about focusing first on how you’re going to improve, do better, be stronger and not on your ranking or scores. As a judged sport those elements are out of your control and it’s about learning first on how to have good sportsmanship.

Congratulations to all of our athletes on taking your first steps into the season! Your coaches are proud at the strong start you have taken we are all looking forward to the next steps! A final great moment of the weekend was being recognized as a club for being the 3rd highest fundraisers for Burning Bright this year in Ontario! Congratulations on a job well done white team for organizing the event and all of our athletes who helped raise both funds and awareness about this important cause.

Below are results based off of the age groups in both detailed and summary form. When reading the marks there are 5 judges the highest and lowest scores for each figure get knocked off. The remaining 3 marks are averaged to find your mark per figure. That 6th judge on each panel was helping conduct an LTAD assessment for all athletes marking their flexibility (splits) and strength (vertical height) for each age group. If you have any questions about this please email us at torontosynchro@gmail.com.
